This series goes back to a postcard edition by Heinrich Hoffmann, Adolf Hitler’s personal photographer. Hoffmann’s photos were published en masse, making a significant contribution to the Führer cult under National Socialism. The artist group G.R.A.M. appropriated and restaged Hoffmann’s depictions. The choice of two actors opens up the gestures and poses to a universal vocabulary of political propaganda and also allows a dissection of the language of power.
