Go out on a limb, 2021
Angelika Loderer

Bildunterschrift

In Go out on a limb, Angelika Loderer once again focuses on the appropriation of a found form and the interplay between snapshot and control. Two found doors made of glass and metal form the basis of this sculpture. During the exhibition, the artist allows a habitat of fungal mycelium to grow in the space created between the doors. Over time this begins to sprout through the existing openings. The two glass doors allow a view of the filigree network of mycelium that would otherwise be invisible to us. As an organism of connections between living and dead materials, this work also represents a step towards collaboration with living sculptural communities.
