Bildunterschrift

The International Village Shop (IVS) is a network of rural places where forms of production and trade are tested. Various producers across the world are involved in this temporary and semi-permanent trading platform. The assortment consists of products that are devised and produced for the IVS, such as wooden stools from Brezoi, potato bags from the Lüneburg Heath and rustic porcelain from the Cartuja de Sevilla. The products are embedded in narratives that convey something of their origins, of local skills, resources and production conditions as well as the interests of the producers. The shops are located in villages as well as in urban (art) environments.
For SHOWING STYRIA, the IVS has set up shop at the Kunsthaus Graz and has expanded its range in cooperation with the Biozentrum Grottenhof, SoLaKo, the Weizer Schafbauern, nahgenuss and the Kaufhaus der Zukunft.
