Maroon – the virtual physics laboratory, from 2013
GameLabGraz, Institute of Interactive Systems and Data Science/TU Graz
Videos: ORF & GameLabGraz

Maroon is an immersive virtual physics laboratory that invites us to try out and understand scientific phenomena. As a digital learning environment, Maroon can be experienced in virtual reality, among other things, so allowing an interactive learning experience. Because of its virtual nature, experiments can be repeated and adapted much more easily and quickly than would be possible in physical space. The software is being developed as an open source project at Graz University of Technology by a team of students in GameLabGraz. The web application can also be tried out at home on www.maroon. tugraz.at. In the future, the team of developers would like to expand the project into a learning management system. The goal is to design an interdisciplinary platform that enables the flexible integration of interactive experiments within the virtual laboratory.
