Targets, 2000
Kurt Stadler

Bildunterschrift

Targets are constructs made from telescopic antennas and golf balls placed in various positions in the Kunsthaus – on the ceiling, walls and floors. They are reminiscent of technical instruments that can adapt to all kinds of uneven surfaces, fall over and get up again, crossing the room like automatons. Arranged in a group, they become a robotic ballet mécanique. And yet these objects do not reveal their function and mission. They invite speculation as to whether they are really ‘just’ telescopic antennas and golf balls – or whether they conceal a mysterious mechanism that evades attempts at detection.
