Christian Eisenberger

Bildunterschrift

The directness of Christian Eisenberger’s group picture of older women is reminiscent of the cardboard figures he placed in public space from the late 1990s onwards. Created for the public sphere and presented as free to take away, a total of 9,975 cut-outs were painted and numbered over the years. The figures often represented the whole range of our society, including those on its margins. These women are characterised by their headscarves and the way they gaze directly out of the picture at us – a group of unfashionable and recalcitrant old people demanding our attention.
