This portrait series by Maryam Mohammadi and Joachim Hainzl was produced in collaboration with the women depicted. It shows five Afghan women who live in Graz. Their strong gestures and unexpected accessories show them formulating personal plans for the future that break with prejudices and highlight their very individual goals. Their self-portrayal demonstrates feminist power beyond cultural attributions. The title refers to Angela Merkel’s famous words – during the wave of migration in the summer of 2015, she invoked the bold vision of a good future in a heterogeneous community.
