Custodian I & II, 2021
Angelika Loderer

Bildunterschrift

Angelika Loderer presents a collection of unusual eggs: rejects that have no place in our standardised food industry. Loderer empties these eggs then fills the hollow shells with a mixture of cement and dust from her studio. The installation, which the artist created for the current exhibition, comprises the eggs set into two frames with glass shelves. These somehow seem to have been set in motion and house its independent, museum-like collection of non-standardi-sation. Custodian I & II follow on from the artist’s solo exhibitions at the Secession (2017) and at the Kunstfenster in Gnas (2020) and explore how value is assigned to precious or non-precious materials, museum conservation, but also valuable or valueless life.
