These two research projects are laying the groundwork for the use of wood in structural components in vehicle construction. Used correctly, wood-based materials can be equal or even superior to plastics and metals in their technical efficiency and ecological performance. WoodC.A.R. focused on making it possible to digitally predict wood and its natural material variability and to simulate its behaviour under fatigue and crash loading through virtual engineering. CARpenTiER explores the technical and economic feasibility. The digitalisation of production processes enables the transfer of craft knowledge in wood processing to reproducible industrial processes. If just 1% of the components manufactured from steel were replaced by woodbased components worldwide, 140,000 t of CO2 equivalents and 990,000 t of raw materials could be saved every year.

Wild bees, 2021
Drawings: Viktoria Zink
Scientific support: Wido Gunczy
As a crucial pollinator, the honey bee is currently a hot topic. The role of wild bees in the pollination process, however, is still unknown to wide sections of the population.

Sound and Sounddesign: Paul Remund
Building rubble and fragments of sculpture cover the floor in Martin Roth’s sound and space installation. A posthuman landscape of ruin – yet solitary pioneer plants are reclaiming the signs of humankind’s exploitation and destructive power.
About Care, ONLY LIFE (Memories burn like a forest fire. B. Eilish), 2021
Iris Andraschek’s research into the current topic of care work once again focuses on making social participation visible.
Video: Michaela Humpel, 2021
Livestreaming video games brings together millions of people from all over the world. Among the livestreaming portals, Twitch.tv is the leading platform.
SPLITTERWERK FORDERN NEUBAUSTOPP (SPLITTERWERK demand a halt to new construction), 2021
Since 1988, the collective’s transdisciplinary approach has focused on questions of spatial, social and ecological transformation.
Better Care, 2019
It’s 2025 and Nadia, a care worker, is on her way in a driverless car to visit Pam, an elderly woman whose mobility is restricted after a stroke. With the help of a robotic walking stick and a machine that reminds her to take her medication, Pam receives basic support.
Klimaschutznotverordnung/KliNo (emergency climate protection regulation) 2021, 2020
The housing and construction sector is responsible for a substan-tial part of the production of greenhouse gases – because of its consumption of resources and energy, the construction process, the operation of buildings, their demolition, soil sealing, mobility caused by urban sprawl and other knock-on effects.
