In 2010, Plamen Dejanoff consolidated five historic buildings in Veliko Tarnovo and Arbanassi into a trust. These buildings had been returned to his family by the Bulgarian state following a restitution process. Under the title Foundation Requirements, Dejanoff, in his role as a contemporary artist, explores traditional building methods and materials such as wood, stone and clay as they were found in his houses or still exist in fragments. Reconstructions of these architec-tural fragments are shown at international exhibitions. The wall made of clay hemp bricks can be traced back to ancient cultural techniques.
